Birstall Playgroup for Children with Additional Needs
About Us
All children learn and explore the world through play. Play is about having fun, getting messy, being creative, solving problems, sharing and joining in. At Birstall playgroup we believe all children have the right to play regardless of a child’s additional needs or disability.
We provide two play sessions on Monday and Friday mornings from 10 to 11.55 a.m, in Birstall Methodist Church Centre, Leicestershire. Generous funding support helps towards our work, including Children in Need funding which pays the salaries of our 3 staff, however it is our team of volunteer helpers who make sure that all the children have the opportunity to join in all the activities on offer.
The Methodist Church in Birstall help by providing the venue and related costs, working together to ensure that there is no charge to parents / carers for the sessions. Some Parents / Carers choose to sit and have a coffee in the lounge next door to the play room. This can be a good time to share experiences and information or simply an opportunity to put the world to rights! Other parents / carers leave the site and have some time to themselves or get the shopping done whilst their children play.
The playgroup has 50 years of history and between us we’ve bags of experience and enthusiasm for the work that we do. If you have a pre-school child who is not reaching their expected milestones or you know a family with a youngster who has a disability, please get in touch to find out more about our group.
